WEEK 4 Preview Vikings @ Bills

According to the weather forecasts its going to 'Rain and Drizzle' whatever that means but my guess is it will probably mimic last Sunday's weather with a little less wind. Here's hoping the Bills don't mimic their play from last week.

Spikes didn't practice Friday which leads me to the obvious conclusion that he's not playing again Sunday. Keith Ellison is no Spikes, the argument can be made he hasn't hurt the Bills, but has he helped? On the other side of the ball the only injuries to speak of are Fat Pat Williams and Chester Taylor who are both probable. If you're probably in the NFL you'll play so I don't see those injuries effecting their play.

If the Bills wanna win, they have to what.. score more points than the other team. But to do that they have to run Mcgahee left run Mcgahee right and run Mcgahee up the middle. I'm ca lling for 35-40 carries minimum 28 for Willis and the rest to Anthony Thomas. But with Fat Pat and the rest of the Vikes defense clogging the middle and the fact they are giving up on averaging a total of less than 90 yards rushing per game the running game could fail.

If the running game faulters the Bills will rely on Losman to throw against a team that has allowed 200 yards per game in the first three contests. Coming off a career day last week perhaps it is time to give 'the kid' some more chances throwing the ball. Using the run to set up the pass can definitely help J.P. but the Bills have been reluctant to use play action, why I don't know.

On the defensive side of the ball the Bills wont be facing an offensive jaugernaught. In fact the Brad Johnson led offense has had scoring totals of 19, 19, and 16. Unlike last week the Bills D will need to force Johnson to make mistakes, force some turnovers and get more than 1 sack if the Bills want to win this game. Johnson is averaging about 61% completion of his passes but has been sacked 7 times so there is the possibility of sacks coming.

Prediction: Mcgahee scores the Bills win

Sabres Practice Thursday night

Two words Sabres fans, Michael... Ryan.. The kid impressed me today at their practice at HSBC arena 9/28. Easily could be the next Jason pominville or D Roy. Losing players like Dumont and Mckee didn't really affect me during the off season but this team seems even younger than last year. For the Sabres to make another deep run they need MORE production from the likes of Pominville, Roy, and Vanek (who seems ready to build on last season).

More practice notes, Miller gave up a few weak goals. Adam Mair scored 3 goals out of the 6 for the 'white' team if I remember correctly. Who knows maybe he can put 18-20 goals in the net if he stays healthy. I also got a good look at Andrej Sekera who is battling it out for the #7 spot on the starting defense with Nathan Paetsch. For a rookie he seemed poised enough to make the roster however Paetsch's experience from last year will probably keep Sekera in the minors until there is an injury.

Coming tomorrow.. Bills week 4 Preview

What an exciting time in Buffalo sports right now. Sabres are due to start their season in 6 days against the Hurricanes and trying to exact some revenge for that bitter tasting loss 4 months ago and the Bills are playing a crucial game at the Ralph. I'll be attending the Sabres practice tonight at HSBC arena and will have my thoughts later tonight. Much more to come, just starting out this "Blog" so check back often and if you have some insight or what you want to see or any suggestions holla at me
