NFL thoughts/musings

Wait wait wait, let me get this straight. Ladainian Tomlinson IS THE GREATEST RUNNING BACK OF ALL TIME, THE BEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME? Just saw the article on ESPN.com. WOW. I'll admit he has a nose for the endzone with 112 career touchdowns but he's never rushed for more than 1683 yards in a season. He's only played in 6 seasons. He has had the benefit if an above average quarterback his entire career. Plays in perfect conditions for at least 9 games a year including in Oakland, and hasn't done anything in the playoffs unless you consider going 26 for 80 and 0 touchdowns being productive in the playoffs. ENOUGH WITH THE HYPERBOLE AND EVERYONE IS THE GREATEST EVER AT WHATEVER PARTICULAR TIME IT IS YOU'RE SPEAKING.

Losman and the Bills have been getting some run in the national media which could be a good or a bad thing. In the immediate it appears to be a good thing, but perhaps a distraction and a major boost in ego that could cause a negative effect. There was an article in the New York Times about Losman, he was on the Jim Rome show, and Angelo Crowell was featured on the front page of ESPN.com for being one of the more under the radar guys in the NFL.

Two weeks in a row the Bills games have been blacked out locally in Buffalo. Not ideal, but appears to be a trend with 7,000+ tickets remaining for the Dolphins and Titans games in Buffalo. Especially not good when it coincides with the announcement that the NFL will officially be playing 2 games a year outside the United States and every team will lose a home game in the next 16 years. Yes everyone loses one, but for the Bills it appears sooner than later. The five potential cities to hold a regular season game as soon as 2008 are Mexico City, Toronto, London, Frankfurt and Cologne, Germany. Even worse the commissioner announced that one of those cities could house an NFL franchise in the next 10 years! Of course, Toronto and Mexico City are the most likely candidates. However, if the Bills played a home game in Toronto, that would be the best possible option for Bills Nation. Considering the acute proximate especially compared to the other options, Toronto would be idea. The stadium would no doubt be packed with thousands of fans in Evans Mcgahee and Losman jerseys while if say Detroit played in Germany the game would be neutral. I don't however see the NFL actually throwing the Bills a bone and giving us a small advantage over other teams.

The constant idea of the Bills moving is depressing, so I'll end on a positive note. THE BILLS ARE PLAYING A HOME GAME IN 3 DAYS. THERE ARE TICKETS AVAILABLE. THE BILLS ARE PLAYING MEANINGFUL GAMES IN DECEMBER. WE HAVE AN OUTSIDE CHANCE AT THE PLAYOFFS. LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Bills victory reaction

The Bills defense gave up a late two minute drill game tying drive at home in ideal weather vs. a mediocre Quarterback. 4th and 13 deep inside the Bills territory Spikes, Fletcher, and Crowell were no where to be found. Garrard scampered for 14 and instead of game over the Jags had a first and goal. Next play touchdown and I was having deja vu all over again.

I do have to give credit to the 60,000+ fans that stuck around during this drive though. It was as loud as I can recall, forcing two false starts and some dude behind me chanting 12th man 12th man up until Mcgee got out altituded by Matt Jones

The Jags squib kick the ball back to the Bills. Del Rio must have some sick job offers with this decision, because it is dumb enough that it should cost him his job. Shaud Williams fields the ball with 29 seconds left, and apparently does what he is taught to do, pitch the ball back to the kick returner. I dont understand this but according to knowledgable sources this is the proper thing and the Bills get the ball out near the 40 with twenty-two seconds left.

Remembering the game previous although it was on TV and I never trust anything on TV, I had some faith overtime might not be needed. Losman makes a play, Parrish makes a bigger play, Lindell does his job and the Bills are 5-6 right in the hunt.

Why doesn't Parrish touch the ball more? He only makes plays with his feet consistently when given the ball. Sunday alone he made three solid plays, including an end around that went from a loss to a 7 yard gain. Can Fairchild draw up some quick slants and middle of the field tosses to this guy, he's only been on the team for 27 games by now.

Mcgahee showed stones in this game too. He was nearly unrecognizable running away from people sprinting towards the goal line for a 29 yard TD and cutting back and diving into the endzone from four yards out. He knows who is next week, and knew he had to get some reps in before the real competition. Tomlinson V Mcgahee. Not really comparable to most, but to Willis he can stand toe to toe with anyone and is eager to prove it next week.

Anyone else ready to send out an SOS and save our Spikes for next season? Hopefully he's just not ready and needs more distance from the devistating last season..

HUGE GAME NEXT WEEK again

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills week 12

My sources tell me Willis is playing. The Jaguars secondary is banged up big time. With Mcgahee, Amtrack Anthony Thomas, Larry Diaper Johnson, or a 12 man unit in a heavily armed tank wont be running against JAX d-line.

This leads to me to thinking the game is on Losman's shoulders two weeks in a row. Coming off his best game as a pro, this could be a good thing. Evans and the rest of the joke wide receiver corps should be able to get separation and put up yards. The lack of a short yardage situation running game could and will come back to hurt the Bills.

Garrard has a lot to prove to Jacksonville brass to show he should and could be the starting QB next August. He has the mobility and the arm, but lacks game time experience Right-sandwich has. Him and Freddy fumblitis Taylor should be able to move the ball on the Bills esp. If they stick to the running game longer than the Texans did last week?

With a projected beautiful day at the Ralph look for the ball to be flying and the points to pile up faster than most anticipate. Riding the coat tales of a comeback last second drive last week the Bills will beat a Jaguars team playing in a highly potential let down game after last week's MNF victory. Del Rio is on the hot seat and should have is team prepared, but traveling north and on a holiday week will be too much for the Jags to overcome

Bills 24- Jaguars 17

On a side note, I have lost some respect for Bills Nation this week. First team all season to not be able to sell their tickets in time to lift the black out is embarrassing and glaring problem for the Bills and their organization as they are on their way to another playoff-less season. Where was the media hype and drive to get fans to buy up all the tickets? Oh yea the ONLY sports talk radio station in town (WGR) was too busy pimping their inhouse Buffalo Sabres and ignoring the Bills and their fans. The hockey season is 82 games then potentially 28 games in the playoffs. Each game doesn't need to be broken down and have some hidden meaning. Who is with me in starting a pirate sports talk station that doesn't talk about survivor and other pointless shit.

Baseball Musings

There is crazy jack being throw around and there are still a lot of free agents being courted. $136 mil over 8 years for Soriano? Is Alfonso really a $17 mil player? He was a 40-40 guy last year, but will he still have all that speed in 5 years? He's already 30 years old, he hit a meager .277 and a career .280 hitter. Man-Ram makes just under $20 mil and he hits about .320 year in and year out and plays about the same defense.

The two Mvps Justin Morneau and Ryan Howard made a combined $740,000 last seasons. Apparently there is some great young talent in this league.

The Mets game Mouises $8.5 mil? He's allegedly 40 right now had an injury riddled 2006 playing only 98 games and gets a raise of more than $1mil? Is there a Latino player Omar Minaya will not sign?

Solid signing by the Dodgers signing up Nomar for $9mil per year for two seasons, that should protect them a little when he gets a career ending injury by August.

Mussina showing little signs of old age took an $8mill pay cut and signed a two year $22mill deal with the Yankees. If he continues to play at a high level and win his 12-15 wins, you can't complain about that deal.

The poor man's Jose Reyes, Juan Pierre, is a solid player who lead the National League in hits and has started as many games as anyone in baseball over the pass 5 seasons. $9mill is a reach for the Dodgers but took him away from their rival, the Giants, who offered $8mill per season.

According to espn.com's free agent tracker the best free agent left is Jason Schmitt and I can't even find who was rated the number 2 free agent out there, while they had Aramis Ramirez rated the #1 free agent. Moreover, that means the Cubs signed the #1 and #3 free agents, and they'll still lose for the next 98 years.

My rule 5 player would have been Ben Francisco but it appears likely he will be protected by the Indians in the draft.

What are the Blue Jays doing? Do they have a plan? Frank Thomas two years $18mill? I am still shaking my head at that AJ Burnett signing last off season. Simply awful.

Poor Derek Cheter, still no personal awards and achievements. I wonder how his career would have gone if he didn't walk into the perfect situation and consistently bat in front of perennial hall of famers.

Buffalo Bills shocking victory reaction

I honestly forgot what a win like this feels like. Sure we're 4-6 and have to face Jax and San Diego in the next 2 weeks but for this week the Bills and JP Losman are winners, big time.

The reason this feeling escapes me is because the Bills haven't had a 4th quarter 2 minute drill to win a game since 1999. The bills haven't won a game decided by 3 points or less in four years or something. AND Losman looked like the quarterback of the present and future.

Watching this game so many emotions were felt from beginning to end, these were captured in actually text messages I received during the game. Remember these are actual text messages from my actual friends:

1:09 Yea! boy
After the bills score on their third play from scrimmage bomb to Evans

1:41 Am I watching favre circa 1996?
Bills go up 14-0 and Losman looks dominant

2:17 WTF r we doing
After the Bills decide to run out the clock with 3 time outs and 1:10 remaining.

4:01 Losman 26/38 3 TDs 340 yards Bills win 24-21
Never thought I'd see those stats in my life.

9:17 Yea it's been on my crotch
Funny text from a quote from Family Guy

The season is salvaged for one more week, Losman has earned the remainder of the year, and barring a major set back will be the starting quarterback next season and the foreseeable future.

Why can't wide receivers just be open? They are always WIDE OPEN never just open. Who the hell is Romo? Anthony (Amtrak) Thomas is not better than Willis Mcgahee and never will be. Although according to the Buffalo News today Ralph Wilson thinks Mcgahee has been a disappointment.

I am still shaking my head about the post game comments of Dunta Robinson.. "If that had been Peyton Manning, you'd expect it," he said disgusted. "But it was J.P. Losman. That's embarrassing. I hope he doesn't feel too good, because we just shot ourselves in the foot." Who does this guy think he is? He is a sore loser and should go home and cry. How does 3-7 feel buddy, maybe you should be looking at your and your secondaries play instead of taking shots at Mr. 2 4th quarter comebacks Losman.

Losman to Price in the back of the end zone.. TOUCHDOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

NFL Week 11 Bills @ Houstan Texans

The Houstan Texans have taken a bit longer as an NFL franchise to start winning than some predicted. Considering nearly half of their entire franchise victories have come against the Jacksonville Jaguars that has to be discomforting, not only to Texans' diehards (if there are any) but also JAX fans. But I digress.

The last two bills games this blog called out Terrance Mcgee, Willis Mcgahee, and Aaron Schobel. I picked the Bills to lose to the Packers yet win against the Colts. No player I have called out has contributed lately and I'm 0-2. However, I called Willis out and he gets hurt, Mcgee blows up the next game, and well Schobell is do. The Texans are ripe for the picking sans their starting left tackle and right tackle.

This blog aims for truthiness and understand the meaning of the word modest. I incorrectly teased the under of the Chargers Bengals game last Sunday and from here on out will not be picking any bets, because that is pathetic and if this was communist Russia, or Saudi Arabia I would be shot down dead in the street. I was off by 36 points in an over under. Pathetic, but we hope you stick around for banter and intersting insight just not for betting tips.

Hopefully Brad Cieslak has as touchdown dance prepared because the Bills are going to open up the offense. The running game should be if not solid, spectacular with the injury of both interior linemen on the Texans' defense. Then again Losman is the Bills quarterback and minus the Jets game has not done anything, or at least very little.

E-Mo should have a solid day against Mcgee but he is washed up and hit has been on a slide since the Bledsoe era.

Jim Mcnally Buffalo Bills Offensiveline coach

Alleged Genius Jim McNally has been with the Buffalo Bills for three seasons. He has brought the Giants and Panthers to the NFC Championship game (1996,2000) and brought the Bengals to the Superbowl twice (1982 1987). He has coached up players like Anthony Munoz and is trying to do the same with Jason Peters.

A closer look inside the numbers shows that within the first three years of his tenure on all three teams they reached a championship game. This is his third season with the Bills. Their offensive line is inept to say the least. After researching this, I am starting to doubt my original hypothesis that he has lost it.

One can only assume he has some say if not a lot pull as to which offensive linemen Levy and the organization target. If that is the case however, why would the Bills go after players like Gandy, Bennie Anderson, Tuton Reyes and Melvin Fowler?

From what I'm told contiuty and cohesiveness are paramount to a strong offensive line. Throughout his tenure the Bills seem to have had a revolving door at every position with the biggest changes coming at guard and right tackle.

The litmus test for McNally's legacy in Buffalo in my mind rests on Duke Preston. He was drafted in the 4th round in the 2005 draft as a Center. The bills and presumably McNally have moved him over to right guard where he will be starting this Sunday against the Texans. If this guy is so great and obviously saw something in this kid Duke then McNally should be able to coach this guy up to be at least an adequate lineman.

Remember blocking is 50% pass blocking 50% run blocking. The Bills have four rushing touchdowns this season which is beyond pathetic. I don't even want to look up stats comparing the Bills to LDT or who ever all I know is this line is not getting it done, the run game is stagnant and their is no push in short yardage situations. I be watching this week against a d-line in Houstan that is missing both starting Defensive tackles and how Anthony Thomas does and the Bills do in short yard and in the endzone, specifically the Duke, Duke Preston.

Baseball Winter Meetings & Awards

Weird season in baseball. No twenty game winner, no real dominant team, the cardinals won the world series after winning 83 games or something, and a catch won the batting title. The playoffs had a good mix of big markets (New York, Detroit, LA) and small markets (Minny, Oakland) but the disparity between the haves and have nots is blatantly evident. My Picks

NL Rookie of the Year
Dan Uggla Florida Marlins

They got him in the freaking rule 5 draft. Ridiculous. .282 27 jacks 90 rbi 26 2b's .
Ryan Zimmerman was the 4th over all draft pick, so he was pretty much guaranteed to be a solid player. The other mentionable was Hanley Ramirez. He was a highly highly touted young SS out of Boston and was the major sticking point for the trade that sent the Sox Beckett, so there shouldn't have been a surprise with him although he did have 51 steals.

AL Rookie of the Year
By default Justin Verlander Detroit Tigers

Weak rookie class out of the American League. This is the first pitcher to actually win ROY since Righetti in 81. Also surprising was the runners up were both pitchers too. Papelbon would have been my vote although he fell apart at the end even though he threw 68 innings. Also if the idiot Twins started Liriano from the beginning of the season and of course if he stayed healthy he would have been a shoe in as well. I saw this kid pitch against the Tribe in early April and you could just tell this kid had nasty stuff. I couldn't understand why he was pitching junk innings in the rain... Pierzynski for Liriano?

NL Cy Young
Anibal Sanchez Florida Marlins

The dude threw a no hitter. First one in over 2 seaons! He only started 17 games but was 10-3 with a low 2.83 era. He didn't start his first game till July 25th vs. the Yankees in Yankee Stadium and only threw 5.2 innings of shut out ball. September 6th 2006 where were you? Oh yea another throw in for Beckett.

AL Cy Young
Johan Santana Minnesota Twins

Not much of a contest here. 19-6 2.77 era. Consistently good.

NL MVP
Jose Reyes New York Mets

Reyes .300 19 jacks, 64 stolen bases, 194 hits 17 triples. He starts and stops the Mets offense straight up. He plays a very solid short stop.(The most important defensive position)

I'll admit I'm a big biased but.. Pujols led Cardinals won 83 games, he was hurt for a chunk of the season and he gets walked a lot which inflates his runs and obp. Ryan Howard would deserve major consideration but the Phillies didn't make the playoffs. They wouldn't have made the playoffs with out him too.

AL MVP
Justin Morneau Minnesota Twins

Hit .321 34 jacks 130 runs batted in 190 hits. Dude can flat out mash. He's only 25 and can only get better with a solid young core on the Twinkies.

Derek Jeter just doesn't seem to be that valuable to the Yankees. The best #2 hitter in baseball? Probably, but with that line up any one that gets on base and bats in front of A-Rod Giambi or Sheffield and hits after Damon is going to have stats. Only 14 home runs 102 strike outs, hit .343 but on base percentage was only .417.

NFL buffalo sports dude style

Can we quit calling LaDainian Tomlinson LT.. Does everyone forget Lawrence Taylor?? I typed in LDT's(as Bill Simmons calls him) name into google and 890,000 results popped up.. I typed in LT's full name and 8,990,000 hits came up. Besides the fact that some how there is an exact round number of hits for both names Taylor has a huge lead in google-ness so stop with the Tomlinson "LT" moniker.

A few more moratoriums I would like to see enacted:

Moratorium on:
  • Anything being the greatest play ever, the greatest drive ever, the greatest quarterback ever, etc..
  • The Bears being as good as the '85 Bears. They don't have Walter Peyton
  • Back-up quarterbacks, offensive linemen, and defensive tackles getting more run on ESPN and being deemed NFL Experts.
  • Steve Phillips being seen on ESPN after every baseball story since the World Series.
  • Steve Phillips pimping him self and taking credit for drafting David Wright, we get it..
  • Comparing Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, who really gives a shit about either of 'em.
  • People picking against the spread and having sub .500 records and those having worse records than their own wives, you aren't helping anyone win money.
  • Hyping Reggie Bush. He scored his first rushing touchdown, oh yea and later in the game fumbled basically losing the game for his team.
  • Pimping the Saints in general. When the whole country is rooting for you that doesn't mean you're good. This team is still the 'Aints and isn't going any where and that game last year in San Antonio vs. the Bills was fixed.
  • Pimping and Bashing Michael Vick. Is there another more mediocre Pro Bowl Quarterback that gets more run and hype than this guy. Go away Ron Mexico.
  • Loving the Cardinals and Dolphins every pre-season. They have a combined 4 victories.
  • The Detroit Lions getting Thanksgiving games. This isn't a tradition, they suck, they've sucked basically their whole existence, and the fans in Detroit don't give a crap about them.
  • Daniel Snyder. Can this dude get a clue? Actually, keep spending money and become the Yankees of Football(as long as small markets like the Bills benefit from Revenue Sharing)
  • Signing Jeff George. Is there a more washed up less deserving of another chance quarterback than him? Every season some teams brings him in for a work out.
  • letsgobuffalo.blogspot.com . Is there a bigger clueless hypocritical hack than this guy?
  • Not spell checking your blog before posting, is it that hard??

Coming soon.. Jim McNally rant

COLTS 17 BILLS 16 F

The Buffalo Bills might have the worst red zone offensive in the history of athletic competition specifically the National Football League. THE ABSOLUTE WORST.

According to the brutal CBS broadcast the Bills had 11 plays inside the Colts 20 yard line, totaling -8 yards. Was there a third down Losman didn't drop back and take a sack. Whether it was his fault or not he took sacks in crucial third downs. This happens every week, every single week.

13 pass attempts and according to the stat sheet there were only 4 sacks. Seemed like every third down drop back Losman was eating grass. The one sack looked like Losman through the ball away, maybe it was a fumble, but not suprisingly they said Losman was 'In the Grass' and that sounds about right.

Anthony Thomas ran hard, he got 100 yards, but he didn't impress me. He didn't for one second make me forget the name Willis Mcgahee. Didn't get in the end zone. He did avg 3.9 and is more than adequate but didn't score.

Mcgee when he isn't covering a good wide receiver flat out makes plays. He knows how to kick return probably better than any in the NFL. I'm not going to blame Mcgee on the touchdown in the first half, that was just flat out a great pass. A great corner would have possibly made a play on the ball but it ended up as 6.

Lindell is the least (although I hate this word) 'clutch' kicker ever. Pittsburgh game 2 seasons ago, the kick today from 41, he just misses the big kicks and I'll never understand it.

This game had all the making of a perfect let down game. And through the first 54 minutes or so I thought it would be the let down, upset that could have been. Perhaps with better red zone play calling, and adequate QB, and blocking assignments being picked up things would have been different.

On a positive note, Ko Simpson and Dante (the criminal) Whitner are rookies. They shut down the deep ball all day. Manning seemingly didn't have a completion over 15 yards of any consequence. Clements played like the $8 million man that he is. Locking up Harrison for most of the day. Forcing that fumble with 8 minutes left was ballerish too.

When are Sunday evenings going to be enjoyable again in Buffalo?????????????????

Teasers, Parlays and NFL locks for 11/12

Alright, we all gamble. That's why we all love the NFL. Of course no wins, but everyone likes to give their picks, pretend they know more than anyone else and think you'll listen to them. One question, why has no one figured out how to gamble and win consistently making mad jack? Probably pretty easy to answer, too many variables.(weather, injuries, local mood of the city, momentum, refs accepting bribes, etc..)

One thing I have noticed, is 3 team 6 point teaser parlays. This is the rare time I seem to win more than I lose. Pick 3 teams against the spread, then give them an extra 6 points. 3 is the ideal number, because you don't have to pick games that can go either way, and if you have less than 3 then the pay out isn't really worth it. You bet $10 on a 3 team 6 point teaser it pays $18.(according to my outlet)

So from here on out, I'll be giving my teasers and we'll keep track of my record and hopefully we all win money.

Weekly Over/Under
Chargers @ Bengals Under 54
Chargers are giving up less than 20 points a game and Bengals are giving up 21. The game is at Cinci so the game should stay limit the Bolts offense a bit.

Cowboys @ Cardinals Over 37
It is Pat Tillman day at their stadium. The crowd/ fans will be into it. How come more people don't factor in these things.

Rams @ Seahawks Under 50.5
usually a shoot out, but weather.com says it will be rainy and 48. Not conducive to big points, and the 'hawks D is solid.

6 point three team teasers of the Week
(these can be put in any order parlay)
Parlay 1

Team Formally known as San Francisco @ Lions Lions EVEN
Detroit is under rated and the 49ers suck esp. On the road.

Packers @ Vikings Packers +11.5
The Vikings looked sick last week. They can't score. This is a rivalry and Favre will be looking to redeem him self from last weeks embarrassment.

Redskins @ Eagles Eagles -1
In Philly, Donovan won't lose a division game to the lowly 'skins.

Parlay 2
Broncos @ Raiders Denver -3
It is the Raiders, their coach is Art Shell. The Broncos will win this game by more than a field goal, easy.

Cowboys @ Cardinals Cards +13
Tillman day and the Cowboys are over rated.

Saints @ Steelers Saints +10.5
Big game for the Aints. Are they that good, are the Steelers than bad? Pittsburgh hasn't lost back to back in like 3 seasons but 2 touchdowns is a lot to win by.

Parlay 3

Chiefs @ Dolphins Chiefs +7

At worst a push, but this is Huard's home coming and the 'phins can't win back to back games.

Ravens @ Titans Ravens -1
Tennessee is bad, the Ravens defense scares the shit out of me, mostly cause they have murders and thugs, but they're good too.

Texans @ Jaguars Jax -4
Jacksonville had a huge win last week vs. the Titans and I'm thinking this will be take 2. Side note, Jacksonville has had an easy schedule in a two team division.

NFL Week 10 Buffalo Bills @ Indianapolis colts

Classic trap game this week. Whatever that means, if it even still exists or ever existed. Losman was sacked something like once every 4 times he dropped back last Sunday. Stared down Evans the entire time during that TD pass.

JP Losman has touchdown passes of 4, 51, 8, 8, 44, 4, and 43. I'm not sure what my point is here but he has lost 5 fumbles. God damn it he sucks. No passes between 9 and 42 yards? The offense is brutal, and losing Mcgahee wont even hurt the Bills that much. They can't get first downs, they can' sustain a drive and score. Roscoe Parrish doesn't get the ball enough. Mcgahee forgot how to score a touch down.

If the Bills want to entertain a thought of winning this game or being successful with Losman as the quarterback for the foreseeable future he has to step up this game. He will be watching the best pure quarterback since Marino driving, audibling, and making big plays. We haven't seen any of this from Losman in 16 starts.

Looking at games the Colts played against the Jets and Lions, they are vulnerable, however have a strong pass rush. This does not bode well for the suspect o-line of the Bills. The Colts pace to be the worst run defense in history is obviously what needs to be attacked. Everyone says control the clock, limit mistakes and you will probably still lose to Manning by 17 points. That's probably true for this week too.

Besides Losman stepping up and playing I'm going to be lookin for everyone's favorite white DE Aaron Schobel. People are drooling all over this guys stats even though it seems he only gets sacks in garbage time and averages 2 or 3 big plays a year. If he is a potential probowler and the answer for the Bills and defensive end then this is the game to prove it. Great QB known to crack under pressure, the Colts run a finesse offense where the ball has to be in specific spots, and if the d-line can cause havoc and cause turnovers like last week it will start with Schobel.

Not to rant too much, but what has Mcgahee done for the Bills this year, honestly? 579 yards in 7 games, 1 td, 2 runs of 20+ yards? I'm not a Mcgahee basher but stats don't lie. Does he like playing in Buffalo? Does he dance too much, and can't wait to get to a bigger market team? I'm not going to go all that far, but I don't think with this o-line and especially our opponent this week losing Mcgahee cripples us.

Electioneering

To quote Radiohead..
I will stop
I will stop at nothing
Say the right things
When electioneering
I trust I can rely on your vote

Man this politics shit is pissing me off. We were duped into going to Iraq, even the Democrats support the war. Our president has the worst approval rating ever. The candidates never tell you what their stance is just that their opponent did some hooker in the red light district 15 years ago. Throw me a bone here.. How are you going to protect the United States and our jobs from competition from China, when is the Bush Administration going to be investigated for their crimes? How about social security(even though there wont be enough for me in 45 years when i retire)? How about rebuilding the infrastructure of old decaying cities, urban plight, education problems for our youth?

Why has terrorism become the only issue in every election? We were attacked once, allegedly by terrorists with no connection to anyone or no help from anyone else. It happens in every other country and they dont have idiots singing about putting boots in arab's asses.

Some one just speak honestly, represent your district and their ideals, and quitting with the behind closed doors, we're better than you, voting for our own raises, and oh yea boo TERRPORISTS!! Re-elect me.

This two party system isn't working, the electoral college makes me sick, but hey.. if you keep the Bills in Buffalo I'll be happy.

Left wing, right wing, tastes the same to me.

Lets all get some deep fried chicken yummmmmmm

Week 8 Preview Bills V Fudge Packers

I'll be in the parking lot with my 'FUDGE PACKERS' shirt on, so look for me. But on to this game.. Clements apparently has 20 interceptions in his career as a bill. And besides the Steelers game 2 seasons ago I can't remember any of them. Thats probably cause he hasn't had one in 10 games (or Dec. 11, 2005) WTF??

Can we check for a pulse on Terrance Mcgee. Is he breating, is he alive? What is he doing on special teams, on defense, in secondary, oh yea getting burned being unproductive fumbling and not helping this squad. Was that game against the Bengals when he scored a defense and special teams touchdown that long ago? Give this guy some tape on Deion Sanders, or have DeAngelo Hall give this got a call(rhyme).

To stick with the defense for a minute, where is our QB pressure? Are our linebackers and blitz schemes that awful? To win this game the Bills have to pressure Favre (pronounced farve). Teams haven't really been able to do that either, the Packers have only surrendered 9 sacks all season. Furthermore, #4 has thrown double the touchdowns(10) and interceptions(5) and with our lack of "ball hawks" and able bodied defenders from catching the ball we wont be getting many turnovers Sunday.

Alright, Losman sucks. But is that really shocking to anyone? He hasn't even started a full seasons worth of games and the team around him isn't giving him any favors. With new coaching regimes, offensive schemes and the like, that can't be condusive to a healthy progression.. (God ****** damn you Mularky)

Willis needs to turn into the 2004 Willis and score some touchdowns, the defense needs to contain the run and prevent big passing plays WHILE the offense doesn't turn the ball over in their own territory and the Bills have a chance.(Hell Vegas has us at nearly 3.5 point favorites)

Barring a major turn around or the Coaching staff actually doing something over the BYE week and making effective alterations (of which we Bills fan's aren't use to considering what Mularky and GREGGGG have done the past 6 years) the Bills will continue to lose/

BUFFALO SABRES 0-1 V LEAFS

WHERE WAS THE STANDING OVATION THIS GAME AFTER A SABRES LOSE?? I am sick and tired of all of these bandwagon SAbres fans already. They haven't wony anything, these game are meaning less. The Sabres arguebly have looked mediocre in these game regardless. Getting behind early, allowing more than 3 goals numerous times. The sabres half won almost half their games in shootouts, that is a great team? We're losing to the Leafs and Thrashers at home. Those are good teams in this conference and we're dropping them

What happen to the idea that since we sold nearly "15,000" season tickets that there would be no leafs fans at this game. A quick check on ebay Thursday told me there were 71 or so items (ticket listings) for the Leafs @ Sabres Saturday night. All the bandwagon fans looking to make a quick buck and spend some money scooped up all the season tickets and sold these leafs games to make some of their money back.. It's Bs and "real fans" like me aren't able to go to any games(easily any way) I'm pissed off, but atleast the Sabres look to be headed to the playoffs and I just hope we stay healthy enough to cause damage and actauly achieve something UNLIKE last season when we won NOTHING....

Buffalo Sports musings..

Ryan Miller player of the month for October in the NHL. Not shocking that he is givin the honor but why? Because the team played well and he happened to be in the net for 10 of the games? Yea he is probably the best goalie in the shoot out (Although not against the Thrashers) some stats if you will. ( Mind you I think Miller is a good goalie, just not top 5 in the league)
Miller's stats

11th in goals against with atleast 5 starts. 8th with atleast 7 starts
11th in save % with atleast 5 starts. 8th with atleast 7 starts

manny fernandez 1st in save % 1st in wins(tied with miller) 2nd in goals against. Hmm

A stat you can't argue against.. Miller has the hottest selling jersey in the league according to nhl.com, well besides the fact that the Sabres are one of only 2 teams that changed sweaters this year.
And another thing about the Sabres.. It appears I have an anti-Sabres bias which may or may not be true. I do consider my self a big fan, Iwent to roughly 10 games last year plus one in each of the first two rounds of the playoffs.( Both OT victories I might add) But this is what I'm a little soured. I was unable to afford or attain a ducket for the Eastern Conference Finals round against the Hurricanes. Yea i'm not exactly heavy in the pockets but I was willing to spend some dough for a ticket. But the fact is it was nearly impossible. And not because of all the bandwagon mediocre fair weather rich fans.. It was because tickets were $100 for regular joe sabres fan but $17 for season ticket holders who can afford to pay for 41 some odd games and have the free time to go to those games apparently. The arguement is made that it's smart business for the Sabres. And I know its based largely on success of the team but a close look inside the numbers shows this
$17 for 50 games 41 regular season games 9 playoffs= $850 .

9 playoff games. $40 for 6 $100 for 3(ECF) total=$550
They would have made just for those 9 playoff games $550 These numbers are even conservative. My idea would have been to give the "Loyal" season ticket holders a discounted price for the first two rounds which is a more than fair proposition. Then force them to pay full price beyond those two rounds. Then maybe I would have a crack at this tickets and they could be hypothetically a bit cheaper since the roughly 10,000 season ticket holders (willing to buy p-off tickets) would be paying substantially more and me paying a little less but the Sabres still bringing in much more revenue.

On another note, The Bills didn't lose this week.. by default and my Sunday was much less tense and more comfortable. Plus I was nursing a hang over.. Losman has been givin a "bode of confidence that he'll be the starter" and will be for the foreseeable future. He should be given another 5 games although I did say at the beginning of the year to only give him half the season.

One last note, The Bills are only 2 games back with 9(5 home) to play. Letss goooooooo

PS
The Mets need pitching a 2b and a LF next season.. yikes
